LES.PICTURES is about the image and the language it is made in. Technical systems appear here only through the picture they make possible.
We study how movement, form, light, texture and composition can give physical presence to something that previously existed only as an idea, memory or feeling.

Projects inside the field
Project facts paired with moving image and render material from the studio archive.01 / 2D + 3D / procedural image
Cube Mosaic
- PROBLEM
- An ordinary image had to become spatial material without collapsing into decorative noise, and the degree of abstraction had to stay a decision rather than an accident.
- NOW
- An add-on reads the picture — brightness, colour, local detail, density — and rebuilds it as controllable geometry, so one source travels from recognisable mosaic to abstraction under a parameter.
- ROLE
- Image analysis, Blender add-on development, procedural geometry and motion.
- TOOLS
- Blender 5.1 / Python API / NumPy / Geometry Nodes

02 / 3D / procedural environments
LUCID Panelka Generator
- PROBLEM
- A district could not be rebuilt by hand for every shot, note or late change. The environment had to stay controllable at the scale of a film.
- NOW
- A reproducible system generates buildings, courtyards and city-scale variation from parameters, while keeping the world editable and art-directable.
- ROLE
- Procedural world-building, production tooling, environment states and art-directable variation.
- TOOLS
- Blender / Python / Geometry Nodes

03 / 3D / biological systems
CellLab
- PROBLEM
- Biological structure had to grow from a single cell into colony and tissue without losing the identity of what was already built.
- NOW
- A modular framework keeps simulation points, biological state and instanced geometry apart, so a change of form, behaviour or scale leaves dependent structures and their lineage intact.
- ROLE
- System architecture, procedural modelling and biological visual research.
- TOOLS
- Houdini / Procedural systems
04 / Houdini / atmospheric systems
Cloud Atlas
- PROBLEM
- Atmosphere had to be regenerated rather than repainted every time a shot changed.
- NOW
- A reusable Houdini core with phenomenon modules above it, clouds first, architected so further volumetric phenomena extend the core instead of forking it. In development.
- ROLE
- HDA architecture, procedural volume design and reusable production research.
- TOOLS
- Houdini / HDA00 / HDA01 / Volumes / VDB

Cube Mosaic answers what happens to an ordinary image when it is rebuilt as spatial structure. Brightness, colour, local detail and density decide the size of each block, luminance decides its height, and the degree of abstraction stays a parameter.
The same source travels from a recognisable mosaic to a more abstract version, from a single primitive to mixed ones, from flat pattern to volumetric relief. The quantity under control is the balance between recognisability and abstraction; the vocabulary is density, scale, height, colour and geometric language.
LUCID Panelka Generator makes the state of an environment part of the image. One district reads as new, as lived-in, as night, under snow, damaged — or as X-Ray, where the city becomes its own internal structure.
Facade typography follows the same idea: a message is set in the actual windows of a building, in Cyrillic, Latin or digits. Text becomes architecture rather than an overlaid layer.
Renders from CellLab and Cloud Atlas belong here as images: biological structure and atmospheric volume. How they are built is described on the Houdini page — what matters here is the result.
